Sending bitcoin from your Keeper wallet or vault is simple. Before you begin, ensure you have the required key(s) ready if it’s a multisig vault.
Step 1: Open the Wallet – On the Home screen, tap the wallet or vault you want to send from.
Step 2: Tap “Send” – This opens the send form.
Step 3: Enter the Recipient – You can paste a Bitcoin address or tap the QR code icon to scan the recipient’s QR code. Double-check the address; Keeper will also verify if it’s a valid format.
Step 4: Enter the Amount – Input how much bitcoin to send. You can switch between BTC and your local currency to view the equivalent value.
Step 5: (Optional) Set the Fee – Keeper might allow adjusting network fees. A higher fee can get your transaction confirmed faster. If you’re not in a rush, the default fee usually works. (Tip: For new users, it’s okay to stick with the default until you learn more about fees.)
Step 6: Review the Details – Before finalizing, you’ll see a confirmation screen. Verify the recipient address (at least the first and last few characters) and the amount. It’s good practice to ensure everything looks correct and that you haven’t been tricked by any malware (on hardware wallets, cross-check details on the device screen as well).
Step 7: Authorize the Send –
- If it’s a hot wallet (single key): Enter your app passcode to confirm and send .
- If it’s a multisig vault: Keeper will guide you to collect signatures from your keys. For example, it may prompt you to connect your hardware device or tap your mobile keys one by one. Follow the prompts; after the required M-of-N keys have signed, the transaction will be sent.
Step 8: Wait for Confirmation – The bitcoin network will now process your transaction. You can tap on the transaction in Keeper to see its status. Initially, it will show as “pending” (0 confirmations). Once miners include it in a block, it’ll have 1 confirmation, and so on. Generally, 6 confirmations are considered final for larger transfers, but for small amounts 1-2 confirmations might suffice. Security Tips: Always verify you’re sending to the correct address. Bitcoin transactions cannot be undone, so if you send to the wrong address by mistake, the funds could be permanently lost. If you’re sending a large amount for the first time, it’s okay to send a small test transaction first. That’s it!
You’ve successfully sent bitcoin. The recipient will receive it once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain. If you run into any issues (e.g., unconfirmed transactions or errors), check our Troubleshooting section or reach out to support.
