How to setup Ledger as a Signing device in Bitcoin Keeper?

Pre-requisites:

  2. Update your Ledger device to the latest firmware via the Ledger Live application.
  3. Install the Bitcoin app on your Ledger device using Ledger Live.
  4. Make sure the Keeper app is set up on your smartphone.

Integrating Ledger into the Bitcoin Keeper App using QR-based signing:

  1. Open the Keeper app and navigate to the home screen.
  2. Tap on “Your Vault”.
  3. Choose “Add a signing device” and then select “Ledger”.
  4. The Keeper app will display a QR code.
  5. On your Ledger device, navigate to the Bitcoin app and choose the option to scan a QR code.
  6. Scan the QR code displayed on the Keeper app with your Ledger device.
  7. Confirm any prompts on the Ledger device to establish the connection.
  8. Once the process is complete, the Ledger will be listed as a signing device in your Keeper app.

Registering the Keeper Vault with the Ledger:

  1. In the Keeper app’s Vault, tap the Ledger icon.

  4. Scan this QR code with your Ledger device, following any on-device prompts to complete the registration.

Receiving Bitcoin in the Vault:

  1. In the Keeper app, select the “Receive” option.
  2. Display the Bitcoin address or QR code to the sender. Optionally, specify a particular amount you’d like to receive.
  3. Upon receiving the Bitcoin, it will be shown in your vault, ready to be spent based on its priority.

Sending Bitcoin from a 2-of-3 Vault:

  1. In the Keeper app, open the desired Vault and tap “Send”.
  2. Choose the recipient from the Keeper’s list or manually input/scan a Bitcoin address.
  3. Determine the amount and set the transaction priority.
  4. When asked, select two devices for the transaction signatures.
  5. If Ledger is one of the chosen devices, the Keeper app will display a QR code representing the transaction details.
  6. Scan this QR code using your Ledger device.
  7. Confirm the transaction details on your Ledger, and it will subsequently display a signed transaction QR code.
  8. Scan this QR code using the Keeper app to import the Ledger’s signature.
  9. Follow a similar process for the second signing device.
  10. Once you’ve gathered both signatures, tap “Broadcast Transaction” in the Keeper app. To verify the transaction, you can use tools like mempool.space.

Always ensure your Ledger is stored securely and that your recovery phrase remains safely hidden.
