You can either use the default key made available by Keeper or Add a new App Key. To add a new App Key:
- Prepare the Secondary Phone:
- Ensure that you have another phone with the Bitcoin Keeper app installed. This will be used to display the co-signer details.
- Access Co-signer Details:
- On the secondary phone with Bitcoin Keeper:
- Open the app and navigate to a hot wallet’s Settings.
- Look for and select the “Show Co-signer details” option. This will display a QR code containing necessary co-signer information.
- On the secondary phone with Bitcoin Keeper:
- Adding the App Key:
- On the primary phone where you want to use the App Key for a multikey setup:
- Launch the Bitcoin Keeper app.
- Click on Add New on the home screen.
- Decide the configuration of your multikey ( 2-of-3, 3-of-5 or custom)
- Click on Add a Key. From the list, select App Key.
- On the next screen select Import an App Key and hit Proceed.
- Scan the QR you had ready on the secondary phone to import the App Key
- In the Create New section Look for and select the option “Keeper as Signing Device”. This will activate the device’s camera or QR code scanner.
- Position the primary phone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on the secondary phone. Ensure the entire QR code is visible in the scanner’s frame.
- On the primary phone where you want to use the App Key for a multikey setup:
- Confirmation & Verification:
- Once the QR code is successfully scanned, the primary Bitcoin Keeper app will process the information.
- You should receive a confirmation message or notification indicating that Keeper has been successfully added as a signing device for your vault.
- Safety Measures:
- Always make sure you’re in a secure environment when performing these actions.
- Avoid displaying the co-signer details in public or insecure spaces to prevent unauthorized access.
By adding Keeper as a signing device using another phone, you leverage an added layer of security for your transactions, making it harder for malicious actors to compromise your funds. Remember always to use trusted devices and networks when working with Bitcoin Keeper.
